“Behind Her Smile”

Before I start this, I just want to say that I heard it was National Writing Month or something like that, I don’t know. Oh well, I write every day, so….Let’s continue!!

“Behind her smile, she may be broken,

Hurting,

Dying.

Behind her smile, she may be lost,

Confused,

Scared.

The scary truth: you can’t help her.

Save her.

She doesn’t know what to do,

Where to go,

Who will be there for her.

Behind her smile, she hides the darkest secrets,

Creepy sayings,

Saddest words.

But you don’t see what’s behind her smile,

You don’t know the endless nights she stayed awake,

Wondering who actually liked her,

The endless hours of crying, the endless hours of emptiness,

Nothing.

You’d never know what’s behind her smile because you truly don’t care enough to ask,

What’s wrong, why do you seem sad all the time?

You might always wonder what’s behind her smile, but you may never ask.”
